About Metablify

Our Story

Built to help scientists see more in LC/MS data.

Metablify began at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, where the Baxter lab faced a growing challenge: large LC/MS experiments were producing more data than existing analysis tools could reliably handle. The team needed a better way to find meaningful signals across thousands of samples.

The Scientific Insight

Finding and amplifying real mass features.

Ivan Baxter, Allen Hubbard, and Louis Connelly developed a different approach to LC/MS analysis. Instead of treating each sample in isolation, they used information across the dataset and algorithms grounded in the first principles of physics to distinguish consistent mass features from background noise. That work became the foundation of Metablify’s platform.

From Research to Company

Danforth Technology Company brought the idea to market.

Team Metablify won the Danforth Center’s Big Ideas 3.0 competition in 2023. Subsequent proof-of-concept funding helped advance the technology. Danforth Technology Company (DTC) then led the effort to turn the research into an independent business, bringing together the scientific team, intellectual property, investment, and commercial leadership.

DTC brought Michael Bielski into the effort as Metablify’s founding CEO. Bielski joined Baxter, Hubbard, and Connelly as a co-founder to build the company and bring the platform to commercial and research partners. DTC spun out Metablify in 2024 and provided initial investment alongside QRM Capital.

What Comes Next

Today, Metablify works with partners to develop applications across metabolomics, proteomics, and other LC/MS workflows. The goal remains the one that started the work at Danforth: help scientists find more meaningful information in complex LC/MS data.
